Prevention, Intervention and Support Services

Individual and family well-being has a significant impact on military readiness. The emphasis of the Military Family Services Program is to strengthen the existing capacity of individuals and families through primary preventative services.

The Prevention, Intervention and Support program aims to provide a wide variety of services to CF families in an effort to promote personal and social well-being. Services include information and referral, crisis intervention, short-term counselling, as well as educational workshops and support groups.

Wide range of crisis intervention services is available. Resources and support can be offered to assist individuals and families to defuse a crisis as quickly as possible.

A registered social worker is available to provide short-term counselling to assist individuals, couples and families, work through various types of issues. If determined that long term counselling is required, individuals will be assisted in accessing those services. This is a free and confidential service for military families.

Education workshops and groups are offered at various times of the year with varying topics. Frequently the MFRC partners with community agencies to offer quality educational opportunities.
